3. Data collection on our website

Cookies

Some of the web pages use so-called cookies. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our offering more user-friendly, effective, and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser.

Most of the cookies we use are so-called “session cookies”. They are automatically deleted after your visit ends. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognize your browser on your next visit.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and allow cookies only in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or generally, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Cookies that are necessary to carry out the electronic communication process or to provide certain functions you request (e.g. shopping cart function) are stored on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing cookies for the technically error-free and optimized provision of its services. If other cookies (e.g. cookies for analyzing your browsing behavior) are stored, they are treated separately in this privacy policy.

Server log files

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address, anonymized. The IP addresses are stored in anonymized form. For this purpose, the last three digits are removed, i.e. 127.0.0.1 becomes 127.0.0.*. IPv6 addresses are also anonymized. The anonymized IP addresses are retained for 60 days. Information about the directory protection user is anonymized after one day. This data is not merged with other data sources.

The basis for data processing is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the fulfillment of a contract or pre-contractual measures.

Contact form

If you send us inquiries via the contact form, your details from the inquiry form, including the contact data you provide there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

The processing of data entered in the contact form is therefore carried out exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time. An informal email to us is sufficient. The lawfulness of the data processing operations carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you enter in the contact form will remain with us until you request deletion, revoke your consent to storage, or the purpose for data storage no longer applies (e.g. after your inquiry has been processed). Mandatory statutory provisions—especially retention periods—remain unaffected.

Registration on this website

You can register on our website in order to use additional functions on the site. We use the data entered for this purpose only for the use of the respective offer or service for which you registered. The mandatory information requested during registration must be provided in full. Otherwise, we will reject the registration.

For important changes, such as changes in the scope of the offer or technically necessary changes, we use the email address provided during registration to inform you in this way.

The processing of the data entered during registration is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can revoke a consent you have given at any time. An informal email to us is sufficient. The lawfulness of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data collected during registration is stored by us as long as you are registered on our website and is then deleted. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

Processing of data (customer and contract data)

We collect, process, and use personal data only insofar as it is necessary for the establishment, content design, or modification of the legal relationship (inventory data). This is done on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, which permits the processing of data to fulfill a contract or pre-contractual measures. We collect, process, and use personal data about the use of our website (usage data) only insofar as this is necessary to enable the user to use the service or to bill for it.

The collected customer data will be deleted after completion of the order or termination of the business relationship. Statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

Data transfer upon conclusion of a contract for online shops, retailers and shipment of goods

We transfer personal data to third parties only if this is necessary within the scope of contract processing, for example to the companies entrusted with delivering the goods or the credit institution commissioned with payment processing. Any further transfer of data does not take place or only takes place if you have expressly consented to the transfer. Your data will not be passed on to third parties without your explicit consent, for example for advertising purposes.

The basis for data processing is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, which permits the processing of data to fulfill a contract or pre-contractual measures.

4. Analytics tools and advertising

Use of Google (Universal) Analytics for web analytics If you have given your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1) sentence 1 lit. a GDPR, this website uses Google (Universal) Analytics for the purpose of website analysis. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google (Universal) Analytics uses methods that enable an analysis of your use of the website, such as cookies. The automatically collected information about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. By activating IP anonymization on this website, your IP address is shortened within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before transmission. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The anonymized IP address transmitted by your browser within the scope of Google Analytics is generally not merged with other Google data. After the purpose no longer applies and after we stop using Google Analytics, the data collected in this context will be deleted.

Google LLC is headquartered in the USA and is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. A current certificate can be viewed here. On the basis of this agreement between the USA and the European Commission, the latter has established an adequate level of data protection for companies certified under the Privacy Shield.

Browser plugin

You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser software settings; however, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

Objection to data collection

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by clicking the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set to prevent the collection of your data on future visits to this website: Disable Google Analytics.

More information on how Google Analytics handles user data can be found in Google’s privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

Data processing agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement with Google and fully implement the strict requirements of German data protection authorities when using Google Analytics.

Demographic features in Google Analytics

This website uses the “demographic features” function of Google Analytics. This enables reports to be created containing statements about the age, gender, and interests of website visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising by Google and visitor data from third-party providers. This data cannot be assigned to a specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time via the ad settings in your Google account or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as described under “Objection to data collection”.

Google Analytics Remarketing

Our websites use the functions of Google Analytics Remarketing in conjunction with the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

This function makes it possible to link advertising target groups created with Google Analytics Remarketing with the cross-device functions of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. In this way, interest-based, personalized advertising messages that have been adapted to you depending on your previous usage and browsing behavior on one device (e.g. mobile phone) can also be displayed on another of your devices (e.g. tablet or PC).

If you have given the corresponding consent, Google links your web and app browsing history with your Google account for this purpose. In this way, the same personalized advertising messages can be placed on every device on which you sign in with your Google account.

To support this function, Google Analytics collects Google-authenticated user IDs, which are temporarily linked to our Google Analytics data to define and create target groups for cross-device advertising.

You can permanently object to cross-device remarketing/targeting by disabling personalized advertising in your Google account; follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/.

The aggregation of the collected data in your Google account is carried out exclusively on the basis of your consent, which you can give or revoke at Google (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). For data collection operations that are not merged in your Google account (e.g. because you do not have a Google account or have objected to the merging), the data is collected on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest arises from the website operator’s interest in the anonymized analysis of website visitors for advertising purposes.

Further information and Google’s privacy policy can be found here: https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

Google AdWords and Google conversion tracking

This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising program of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”).

As part of Google AdWords, we use so-called conversion tracking. When you click on an ad placed by Google, a cookie for conversion tracking is set. Cookies are small text files that the internet browser stores on the user’s computer. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used to personally identify users. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognize that the user clicked the ad and was redirected to that page.

Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. The cookies cannot be tracked across the websites of AdWords customers. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information with which users can be personally identified. If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can object to this use by easily deactivating the Google conversion tracking cookie in your internet browser under user settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

“Conversion cookies” are stored on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior in order to optimize both its web offering and its advertising.

More information about Google AdWords and Google conversion tracking can be found in Google’s privacy policy: https://www.google.de/policies/privacy/.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and allow cookies only in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or generally, and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be restricted.

Google reCAPTCHA

We use “Google reCAPTCHA” (hereinafter “reCAPTCHA”) on our websites. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

reCAPTCHA is used to check whether the data entry on our websites (e.g. in a contact form) is performed by a human or by an automated program. To do this, reCAPTCHA analyzes the behavior of the website visitor based on various characteristics. This analysis begins automatically as soon as the website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (e.g. IP address, time spent by the visitor on the website, or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during the analysis is forwarded to Google.

The reCAPTCHA analyses run entirely in the background. Website visitors are not informed that an analysis is taking place.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in protecting its web offerings against abusive automated spying and against spam.

Further information about Google reCAPTCHA and Google’s privacy policy can be found at the following links: https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/ and https://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/android.html.

5. Newsletter

Newsletter data

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an email address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the specified email address and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected, or only on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.

The processing of the data entered in the newsletter registration form takes place exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can revoke the consent you have given to store the data, the email address, and its use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. The lawfulness of data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you provided for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted after you unsubscribe. Data stored by us for other purposes (e.g. email addresses for the members’ area) remains unaffected.

MailChimp

This website uses the services of MailChimp for sending newsletters. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.

MailChimp is a service that can be used, among other things, to organize and analyze the sending of newsletters. If you enter data for the purpose of receiving newsletters (e.g. email address), this data will be stored on MailChimp servers in the USA.

MailChimp is certified under the “EU-US Privacy Shield”. The “Privacy Shield” is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the USA intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards in the USA.

With the help of MailChimp, we can analyze our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with MailChimp, a file contained in the email (so-called web beacon) connects to MailChimp servers in the USA. This can be used to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, were clicked. Technical information is also collected (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of recipients.

If you do not want analysis by MailChimp, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. We provide a corresponding link for this purpose in every newsletter message. You can also unsubscribe directly on the website.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The lawfulness of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.

The data you provided for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted after unsubscribing both from our servers and from MailChimp’s servers. Data stored by us for other purposes (e.g. email addresses for the members’ area) remains unaffected.

For more details, please refer to MailChimp’s privacy policy: https://mailchimp.com/legal/terms/.

Conclusion of a data processing agreement

We have concluded a so-called “Data Processing Agreement” with MailChimp, in which we oblige MailChimp to protect our customers’ data and not to pass it on to third parties. This contract can be viewed at the following link: https://mailchimp.com/legal/forms/data-processing-agreement/sample-agreement/.

YouTube

Our website uses plugins from the Google-operated site YouTube. The operator of the pages is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.

When you visit one of our pages equipped with a YouTube plugin, a connection to YouTube servers is established. In the process, the YouTube server is informed which of our pages you visited.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to directly assign your surfing behavior to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

YouTube is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offerings. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Further information on handling user data can be found in YouTube’s privacy policy at: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.

Information about your visit and your IP address is stored there. Interactions with the JW Player plugins (e.g. clicking the start button) also transmit this information to JW Player and store it there. JW Player’s privacy policy with further information on the collection and use of your data can be found at https://www.jwplayer.com/privacy. In addition, JW Player accesses the Google Analytics tracker via an iFrame in which the video is called up. This is JW Player’s own tracking, over which we have no control. You can prevent tracking by Google Analytics by using the deactivation tools that Google offers for some internet browsers. Users can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by Google Analytics and relating to their use of the website (including their IP address) and from processing this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de
